1960's Character

Makeup And Hair
From my research into 1960's females it has become clear that in this time large eyes and a prominent jaw line/ elongated neck are strongly desired. I think it would be best suited if my character were ever so slightly caricatured. For instance I may make the head ever so slightly larger than expected and over exaggerate the makeup. I love the effect of twiggy's lower eye lashes and I think this would work well on my character. For my character, I am torn between the short boy hairstyle of twiggy and the backcombed volume of the model below. As both are the iconic to this time period.

Figure
Curves are a must for my character as they represent this era perfectly. I also feel this will be a lot more interesting to model and will help emphasis the femininity of my character.
Outfit
A simple dress...

Change of plans...

I have come across too many complications with my initial theme choice of the Circus. For instance, it is very difficult to create the interior of a circus tent that can be easily texture mapped as it is filled with so many polls to hold it up. I would much rather I spent my time creating a character, vehicle and scene that are visually pleasing instead of focusing all my attention on one aspect to make it accurate in construction, i.e. the environment. As a result I have chosen to create the Retro America theme instead. I feel this will allow me to be more expressive and through this will help develop my skills in Maya.

At the circus

Character
There are several character that would relate to the theme of the circus. For the purposes of this module I have narrowed it down to either, a mime artist, clown or tightrope walker.

Vehicle
For my vehicle I would like to create a smaller than normal car as a representation of several clowns immerging from it in a comical fashion. I have yet to start this.

Environment
The interior of a circus tent would be very interesting to model, however I can't help but dread the amount of effort that would be needed to texture map the many details.

Choosing A Theme

For my vehicle, character and scene models, I felt it would be most efficient if they had a consistant theme. This allows me to relate my work throughout and pose the character and vehicle at the end in order to tell a story within my scene.

Retro America
Character - Glamourous female. High fashion. Possibly characatured to add emphasis to curves and hair ect.

Environment - Motel, diner or gas station. Old sign posts.

Vehicle -  Old American muscle car. Comparatively large compared to charater.

Circus
Charater -  Clown or mime. Tightrope walker/actrobat.
Environment - Inside circus tent.

Vehicle - Mini car for clowns to get out of. Comparatively slightly smaller than one would think for characters in order to add emphasis.

Army
Character - Soldier.

Environment - Army barracks. On the field.

Vehicle - Tank. Armoured vehicle.
